I've been tagged by Stacey! That means I have to list six wierd things about myself....hmmm...not sure how weird these are, but here you go!
1. I live in the house that my husband grew up in.
2. I live at the bottom of a landslide.
3. I have to have a midnight snack every night.
4. I'm obsessed with soft & cozy...I cut tags out of my clothes!
5. My "blankie" went with me to the hospital when I gave birth!(OK...that's weird)
6. I'm stingy with my food!
Off to tag people...

Day 12
On the morning of June 1st 2005, at about 6:45 am I was sitting in bed nursing my five week old little peanut, when my husband and I started hearing popping and wooshing sounds. At first we thought we had some sort of water leak...but then we heard a huge pop and we lost our power. Ian investigated and eventually went to the window in Mia's room, and yelled"Hun the hill's coming down behind us!" At first we had no idea the magnitude of what was going on...At 6:58 I frantically called my mom to tell her the hill was sliding and we were getting out ASAP. We began to hear sirens at 7am. I strapped the girls in their car seats and began to throw things into the car. In the matter of about 10 minutes I managed to pack almost all of our clothes, all necessary baby paraphernalia and all important photos, albums and mementos. While I was packing Ian ran up the street to help our neighbors whose homes were literally being crushed. And so began a very scary and chaotic morning. Amazingly no lives were lost, and nobody was seriously hurt. We were so lucky that our house was untouched, unfortunately many of our neighbors weren't so lucky. We were out of our home for a little over a month...since returning we have become familiar with all sorts of crazy things including every type of heavy machinery there is, a vibrating and creaking house from all the construction, midnight tractor drop-offs in front of our house, and Mia's first word besides mama & dada was tractor! Above is a picture of the Bluebird Canyon landslide at night...Thursday, January 11, 2007
Day 11

Well I forgot to take my camera out until around 5ish, so we didn't have much light. I upped the ISO to around 1200, I think. I snapped this of Miss Grace in the middle of a giggle fit. Little stinker thought it was hysterical to jump up & down every time I asked her to stand still! Kind of a different perspective for me, but overall not too bad for high ISO, manual and a non-cooperative model!

Day 10
We had lunch at Grandma's house today...nothing can beat Grandma's albondigas soup and machaca burritos(yes, we're Mexican...well my Grandma is at least!) Anyways, Patrice and our sweet little cousin Grant joined us as well. The picture is of Grant waking up from a car nap...mommy's shoulder is always the best spot when waking from a nap! This is cropped and sharpened but otherwise SOOC. Thank you again for comments and any CC!

Day 9

Uneventful day here! I knew it would be harder to get a good shot on the weekdays. The usual routine isn't conducive to getting interesting captures. So I took my camera with us to Trader Joe's, and took some pictures outside before getting our groceries. Taking my camera out in public has taken getting used to. I used to be a bit self-conscious lugging the huge thing around! But now that I know my camera better and am getting more consistent results, I'm feeling more confident. Anyways, Mia was having fun playing peek-a-boo, and running away from Mommy but I managed to catch a bit of eye contact!

1-07-07
Well, I asked my DH which shots I should post, and he thought I should post something other than the girls. Argh! That's hard because I really like a couple of shots that I took of Mia today. Oh well...I can't ask his opinion and always do the opposite! So here you go, two non-daughter shots from our walk today!

Nana came over to take Grace to the park today. I decided to leave the Christmas mess for a little while longer and tag along with Mia to try and get a couple shots for my photo of the day. Mia & I were there for only about 20 minutes, and my subjects weren't exactly cooperative, but I got a couple that I was happy with. I would have had more but I can't stand shadows on faces. I need to learn to use my flash for fill, to help out it situations like today. Thank you for the CC!

1-5-07

I love sharp eyes!! It's amazing how much easier it is to get sharp eyes with my d80 than it was with my d50. Now this is SOOC, I only cropped and sharpened. I'm not sure what else I could do to this photo, as there is an area that has blown at the bottom, and any post processing seemed to make it worse. I really need to take a PS class...
1-4-07

I wish I could post the full length version...one cute baby butt...but alas the internet can be a scary thing. Anyways...the girls were ready to get out of the bath and were sticking something on the wall, and I had been practicing with my borrowed speedlight and caught this moment. Big sis is always so generous with her love and affection....it may be mommy goggles!
my first picture post

Well...I'm a bit late on beginning this journey...but here you go anyways! This blogging stuff has taken a bit of time to learn. I think I need a Bloggin' for Dummies book! Here's a pic taken on the first of the year. Mia disappeared from the den and I found her in her rocking chair reading her favorite book. I have a WB issue with this because I accidentally left it on custom WB and forgot to check it before I took these. I know...I know...if I shot in RAW I would have no problem fixing it! I'll get there eventually...
